About AMMA
AMMA means the MOTHER in Telugu. MOTHER means the beginning. Mother is the source of ALL. She is also the cause of all.
JILLELLAMUDI is a small hamlet of a village otherwise would have been obscure, insignificant and totally ignored but for the selection of Divine Mother AMMA as Her abode since 1940. AMMA, born in Mannava village of Andhra Pradesh, Guntur District on 28th March 1923 to the most fortunate couple Sri Mannava Seetapati Sarma and Smt. Rangamma, was almost a neglected child. She lost Her mother at a tender age. She was a precocious child right from her infantile stage. Her Love for all – humans or animals – animate or inanimate was astoundingly natural, pure and simple. Her maternal Grandfather Sri Chandramouli Chidambara Rao was the first person to recognize her extra ordinary analytical mind and out of the world or Divine qualities even at such a tender age.
She got married to Sri Brahmandam Nageswara Rao garu (NANNA Garu) on 5th May 1936. He as a Village Officer came to Jillellamudi, a faction ridden, sparsely populated, remote, secluded and almost inaccessible village in the year1940. AMMA was dutifully discharging the responsibilities of a house-wife looking after her family. The Divine aura of AMMA started attracting the outside world and inflow of visitors started from the year 1953-54 even while several limitations restrain the accessibility to the place.
By 1958, the number of regular visitors increased sizably which paved way for establishment of ANNAPURNALAYAM on 15th August 1958 as an Institution. Till then AMMA used to serve food personally to all the visitors irrespective of number. Feeding the people has been AMMA’s most favorite activity since Her childhood. She never bothered with two square meals for herself in her life time, but she just cannot bear even thought of anybody leaving with empty stomach. The top priority She gives to mitigate the hunger lies in her declaration that that ANNAPURNALAYAM is her heart throb.
Gradually, visitors from neighboring places like Chirala, Appikatla, Guntur and far off places like Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru etc., started visiting AMMA. By ‘60s and ‘70s devotees from abroad Countries also started visiting AMMA. By the year 1963 a three storied building was constructed purely by the labor of visiting devotees and AMMA aptly named it as “ANDARILLU” or “House of All”. Till date the House of All continues to provide shelter to anybody and everybody irrespective of their status. The uniqueness of Jillellamudi is the unusual bondage and inexplicable love and affection among devotees of AMMA, even though they are hither to unknown to each other. The word ‘devotees’ was used generally, while AMMA does not accept the word ‘devotee’ and emphatically declares that all are Her Children – not only humans, but the entire creation – animate or inanimate.

The Organization SREE VISWAJANANI PARISHAT (SVJP) was formed as Apex Organization in 1971 to disseminate AMMA’s message of universal love. AMMA does not give discourses nor does she claim any extra ordinary Powers. Pressed further, She says that Her Life is Her message and if anything can be emulated it is open for all. Under SVJP several other wings were formed. HER Life is a real ocean of awe-inspiring message. Matrusri Publications Trust has brought out a sea of literature based on AMMA’s Life. Matrusri Digital Center has digitized around 150 such titles and is soon making them available to the public online. Matrusri Medical Center was formed to extend medical services to one and all. Frequent Medical Camps are also being conducted at neighboring places in order to reach more and more deserving. Matrusri Oriental College and High School are the educational wings of Matrusri Vidya Parishat to propagateSanskrit and Telugu education up to Graduation level with Hostel facilities. While a full-fledged Boys Hostel is constructed and is in operation, GIRLS Hostel Project at an estimated cost of Rs.2.50 crores is presently in progress. AADARANALAYAM (Home for the Aged) is another Institution in Jillellamudi taking care of the elderly persons with due respect. None of the above services come with a price tag. Education, Medical Services, Aadaranalayam or feeding in Annapurnalayamis free of cost.
If anybody feels like supporting the cause they are welcome but there is no price tag. Apart from the above Social services, spirituality is at its peak in Jillellamudi. One has to visit ANASUYESWARALAYAM where AMMA and NANNAGARU are consecrated and regular activities of worship are performed round the year. HYMALAYAM is where HYMA, Amma’s daughter who was personification of kindness and pinnacle of Grace has been consecrated by AMMA. The spiritual experience of the visitors in general and Sadhakas in particular, is distinctly exclusive and highly individual. These two temples were formed during the Life time of AMMA. Everybody can participate in these programs without any reservation. A p a r t f r o m t h e a b o v e t e m p l e s , N A V A N A G A NAGESWARALAYAM, VARASIDHI VINAYAKALAYAM, AMMA PADUKALAYAM are other attractions in Jillellamudi.
